How to Choose the Right Air Grille for Residential and Commercial HVAC Systems
August 14, 2026

What Is an Air Grille?

An air grille is a professional HVAC terminal ventilation device composed of a rigid outer frame and adjustable or fixed louver blades. As a key part of building ventilation systems, it is installed on ceilings, walls, floors, and ventilation ducts to control the direction, speed, and uniformity of airflow. Unlike traditional diffusers that focus on air diffusion, air grilles prioritize stable air circulation, low pressure drop, and high free airflow area, ensuring efficient operation of heating, cooling, and fresh air systems.

1. Linear Bar Air Grille

Linear bar air grilles feature long and narrow streamlined design with a minimalist and modern appearance, widely used in high-end office buildings, hotels, luxury residences, and shopping malls. The continuous strip air outlet realizes uniform linear airflow delivery, supporting customized length and embedded installation. Most models are equipped with adjustable single-row or double-row blades to freely control airflow direction, with low noise and low wind resistance, meeting high-standard decoration and ventilation needs.

2. Single/Double Deflection Air Grille

Deflection air grilles are the most classic and versatile ventilation products. Single deflection grilles adjust airflow in a single vertical or horizontal direction, suitable for basic indoor ventilation; double deflection grilles support two-way airflow adjustment, enabling precise air direction control and uniform air distribution. They are applicable to supply air and return air scenarios, with high free area rate, stable performance, and strong universality, ideal for offices, classrooms, and ordinary commercial spaces.

3. Egg Crate Air Grille

Egg crate air grilles adopt three-dimensional grid structure, featuring ultra-high free airflow area and minimal wind resistance. They can realize omnidirectional diffusion of air, effectively avoiding local overcooling or overheating. This type of grille is mostly used for return air and exhaust air systems, suitable for large-space commercial buildings, warehouses, and industrial plants with high ventilation volume requirements.

4 .Floor & Wall Mounted Air Grille

Floor air grilles are thickened and pressure-resistant, with anti-blocking and dust-proof functions, adapted to floor heating and ground ventilation systems. Wall-mounted air grilles are lightweight and easy to install, suitable for wall duct outlets, widely used in residential rooms, corridors, and public service spaces.
